Rock Chick 7 – Regret

I loved Lee’s story. I gave Mace’s and Luke’s 5 stars. But Hector’s – his book made me cry. And no, Hector is not damaged as Mace, he is Charlie’s brother, and their family is probably the loudest normal family in this series.

Sadie is an Ice Princess and a Drug Lord’s daughter, a Drug Lord who is now behind bars because of Hector. A lot of stuffs happened to Sadie which is why she turned into an Ice Princess, and though she has her annoying moments like the rest of the Rock Chick, all I see is how strong and feisty and resilient she is.

Warning: SPOILERS

Sadie was an informant – something her Dad didn’t know because until the very end she kept her role of being a good daughter and stood beside her dad throughout the trial. After the trial, though, she kept her distance, never wanting to be a part of that world anymore.

Sadie was beaten and raped – and still came up strong. Usually the Ice Princess front will make me stop reading because I find it so annoying, but with Sadie, the emotions felt real – it wasn’t wordy like the other books.

How come the girls act cool when it isn’t their story, but I find them irritating when it’s about them? Though I admit the parts when the POVs changed, they seem normal compared to how they act on their books.

Anyway, the part that made me cry – not the cry cry, maybe just a tear or maybe eight – was when she confronted her dad. All those emotions just seemed so real. But it was just on that moment. When she finally came out of her usual Rock chick haze (you know the part when they insist on the boys that they aren’t good enough, that they don’t like the boys, blahblahblah), she was actually pretty cool. I love it when she gets quirky, or when things get tough and she’s like in control but she doesn’t even know what’s going on.

PS: The rape and beaten stuff is horrible. I don’t think I’ve ever read anything like that because I tend to stay away from novels that are too dark. Also the Rock Chicks are cool when they are together but their actions sometimes are too much. Like really, you have to be in someone’s business all the time? But I am going to rate this book a 5 because of Sadie. I like her character. 5 stars for Sadie.
