This is the second book for the Existence Trilogy, a continuation of Pagan and Dank’s love story.

As I said on my blog update I will talk about 4 items – Character, Plot, Pace and Ending.
For the characters, well, I did mention on my review for Existence that I like the characters of Pagan and Dank. Pagan is a resilient girl who survived all these years seeing souls and not knowing why or how, and then all of a sudden she met Dank. Dank is hot and sexy (like how Pagan and her bestfriend Miranda described him), who happens to be a rock band singer and occasionally a student when he’s not too busy being Death.
Some characters were already introduced on the first book, though on the second book their roles expanded. For example Leif- the first book ended with a cliffhanger, saying Leif is not human, and this book started with Leif whispering to Pagan and allowing her to remember memories buried through the years. Leif is like a hot ex-boyfriend which you did not know is a psycho (ok, he’s not a psycho per se, just a voodoo prince) which you can’t seem to keep away. He was selfless to let go of Pagan in the end, though he did try his best to win her heart. Miranda and Wyatt, Pagan’s bestfriends, suffered a blow on this book- Wyatt’s death. Miranda’s character shows the real reaction of a girl who just lost the love of her life, and Wyatt proved that he’s Pagan’s friend until the end.

The plot is unexpected – on the first book I pitied Leif for sticking with Pagan even though it’s obvious that Pagan is in love with Dank. I felt sorry for him, especially towards the ending (of the first book) when Miranda told Pagan that Dank is enrolled at their school and Pagan went off looking for him, which left Leif hanging. That changed after a few minutes when I read Dank’s words which says, “Leif is not human”. Like, boom! There goes the best boyfriend award. Also, I did not expect someone close to Pagan to die. I guess even Death as your boyfriend doesn't mean no more deaths for your family and friends.
The pacing is fine; there’s a smooth transition from the first book and this book, so lucky for those who read the second book after the first. Same with the ending – everything seems to happen smoothly (despite what’s happening on the story) and there was no rush to finish the book or end it.
Overall, I’d rate this book a 5. :D
