Torment
Torment – how I felt when I read the book. Let me explain why.
Luce changed. I like her character during the first book, but here? I find her annoying. Like really, if I have a hot boyfriend angel who pulled all strings just to keep me safe and told me to stay on the campus because angels or demons are after me, I will totally just stay put. I don’t have a death wish, and though I have questions, I will do what Hermione Granger would do – go to the library. Her friends did mention that their history is known to all, so there could be a record of whatever happened to her or to them.
And Daniel? Well, let’s just say it’s a good thing that he’s hot, and that he is set on keeping Luce safe, and he also have his romantic boyfriend moments. Why would he keep things from her? Why would he keep her in the dark?
Or more appropriately, why can’t they just sit down and talk about everything once and for all?
The plot thickens; Daniel is now working with Cam to keep Luce safe, (I actually like the epilogue of the first book where Cam joined Daniel watching (sweet, in a creepy way) Luce sleep), there are Outcasts and Nephilims and more Angel-Demon pairs, and then there’s the eventful Thanksgiving dinner. And of course Miles, not that Luce needed another hottie trying to win her heart.
Overall, I’d give the book three stars. I spent a lot of time pissed at Luce and Daniel that I wasn’t able to really enjoy it.
