As I start writing this review I still have no idea how many stars I’ll be giving this book.
There are a lot of really good moments, though there are some elements on the book which made me frown. I’m going to use my old format Characters-Plot-Pace-Ending so that I can come up with a fair and honest review.
Characters
Noelle got a shady past. During the first chapters it was clear that she’s running away from someone. For a female character I guess she’s ok. I’d rate her 3 stars.
Foster, like any other vet lead character, is troubled by what he has seen when he was deployed.
I guess what’s remarkable with the two characters is how they banter with each other. They got these cute nicknames and they make each other lives’ challenging (in a good way).
Plot
I’m pretty sure I’ve read something like this before, a woman with troubled past went to start a new life in a different city and met a strong capable man who promised to protect her. I guess what’s different is that these 2 banters like best friends, and the other characters are actually interesting.
Pace
I guess this one is the reason why I am having problems with rating the book. Sorry, but during the first part of the book, it feels like it was dragging. There were moments in the book where it seems like the story is slow, and it was sort of boring.
Ending
The ending seemed rush, which doesn’t really match the pace of the rest of the story.
So for the character, I’m going to give it a 5, the plot is a 3, pace is a 2, and the ending is also a 2.
Overall, 3 stars.
