4 stars. Almost a 5, but I didn’t really like the pace.
So the characters were great.
I like Brooke, though there were times that she’s too naïve. I myself can feel that Myles was doing something sleazy, so why can’t she? And the latter part, she was stubborn. Like who can resist Reed? Granted she was with that lying Myles and he and Reed were brothers, but it was evident from the start that it was Reed for her, not Myles.
Reed was a cop, and he’s hot. He’s hot, not only because that’s how the other characters describer him, but because of his words – you can feel the sexiness oozing from him.
The plot is one of those which scream disaster in the making. Imagine meeting a guy and the chemistry is there, but fate had you dating with his brother. Everyone was telling you that you should be with Reed, but you are settling for Myles, who apparently has no time for you. It was interesting, though there were moments that seemed like a cliché.
So the pace – here’s why I rated this a 4 instead of a 5.
I love the first part, really loved it. But when it reached to the part where Brooke stayed with Myles, and then later lived with Jazz, the scenes seem dragging. Everything seems like a repeat of what happened, and I actually skimmed through those parts. Also, when Myles was out of Brook’s life, the spark between her and Reed seemed to dim a little. I was expecting something intense between them, or if not, maybe a calm before the storm feeling, but it seems that the attraction between the two was lost. Good thing there was the Max incident, or the last few chapters would have been boring.
I liked the ending. My favorite part was when Reed sang in the bar, then there were girls flirting with him and Brooke decided to stake her claim. That part was hilarious and fun to read. :)
Overall, 4 stars. Might have been a 5, but I want to be honest and give it a 4.
