Abbi Glines – Like a Memory
I’ve been a fan of Abbi Glines since the start of the Rosemary Beach series. So when she released the last book for the Sea Breeze, where the ending shows a brief interaction between Bliss and Nate, I know that I have got to get the book (Yes, I know there’s going to be a new book; in case Abbi wasn’t writing, I know us readers (Abbi’s Army) won’t stop until she grants our request, lol).
And this book did not disappoint.
Before I got to Bliss and Nate part, I just want to say that reading Cage, Eva, and the rest of them 20 years older makes me feel old. It’s weird dreaming of Rush and Cage and all of a sudden I’m all about Nate.
Anyway, back to the book.
I love the characters, more now that they are grown up. Bliss is exactly how I thought she’ll turn out to be, a cross between Eva’s caring personality and Cage’s lust for experience. Nate is his father’s son, but more. He wants to be separated from his grandfather’s shadow, but like Rush, he fell into the pattern of just accepting his fate.
The minor characters were all interesting, especially the twins, Nate’s youngest sister, and Eli. I was expecting closer relationship between Nate and Lila Kat, similar to Eva’s and Eli, but it seems that they were not that close. Still, this generation is as interesting and vibrant as the first.
When I read the blurb (I participated in the cover reveal, thus I read the blurb before the cover went live) I was half set on a tragic ending. Although Harlow (Rosemary Beach Series) got her HEA, there were also deaths (although the last one wasn’t really dead; he was in Once She Dreamed Duet). The plot is new and complicated, and I loved it! (Though personally, I wished for more of Nate and Bliss childhood history to build-up their chemistry)
For the pace, although there seems to be a change in Abbi’s writing style, I still enjoyed this book. The name drops were kind of confusing at first, and there was a part where I realized there were 2 Cruz’s – a Kerrington and a Cage, but aside from that, the pace is ok.
For the ending –well, that was unpredictable, but in ended on a sweet and happy tone. I read a lot of reviews where they thought Nate’s breakup with his ex-girlfriend seemed like a brush-off, but if you take to consider the 2 characters personalities, I guess it’s fitting.
5 stars for me.
PS: Can they have a Part 2?
