Review: Rocked Up

“It’s not so dark that I’m not recognized and the crowd begins to roar. My soul has been a few steps behind, but has caught up to me now and steps in. Here I am, here it comes.”

What I love about this book is that most scenes are written in a dramatic way that will make you get goose bumps while reading, just like the scene above. Whenever they are in the zone, you can almost feel like you are there, about to rock the crowd’s world. I love the characters! They have chemistry both on and off the stage. I like how easy they are, and that their scenes are not that heavy on the drama side, even when things are complicated. They don’t need to spend time alone to find themselves and all that romance clichés; they are at the point of their lives where they know what they want, they have complete trust with each other, and that they simply complement each other.

“Like gravity is pulling us into each other’s orbit and there’s no choice but to either collide or keep rotating around each other.”

For the plot, there were a lot of unexpected scenes, so this is not like any other rockstar romance. I also like the pace of the storyline – nothing seems rushed, and the book was well-written. The ending was great. What I love about it, and the rest of the book, is that it’s light and easy, no heavy-drama stuffs (though usually this type of conflict results to chapters of drama and tears and threats). For stories of this theme, which is commonly emotional, this one is fun and lightweight. If you are looking for a rock star romance without the usual angst (except when they are performing on stage), this book is for you. 5 stars
