He held out his hand to help me up. I pulled on him and then brushed off my pants. “I don’t think so, but we should head back if you want to see other touristy stuff.”
He looked around and then shook his head. “No. I’m good with just hiking this trail. Unless you’re hungry or something?”
I looked at Taylor. He was a little too sweet, somewhat courteous, and even thoughtful at times, all safely hidden away behind his smart mouth and his tough tattooed exterior.
He cocked his head. “What?”
“Nothing. You’re just … not what I thought … I think.”
“Great. Now, you’re in love with me. I’ll never get rid of you.”
My nose wrinkled. “I am definitely not and never will be.”
“Promise?” he asked, smug.
“Yes, and unlike you, I keep my promises.”
Well, the Maddox boys are perfect – seriously, I think I just had a realization that although Travis is my first love (book boyfriend), you can give me any Maddox boy and I’ll be happy. True, their temperament is unpredictable, but just like what their mother wrote on the letter (the one Travis gave to Abby), “when a Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever.” When Taylor sets his eyes for Falyn, he gave it his everything.
Now Falyn I’ve grown to dislike. Everything was fine by Maddox standards, but then all of a sudden, she pushed him away. I find her actions absurd. Like, there’s this guy who is not only hot, but is crazy heads over heels in love with you; why push him to hate you?
Plot is good, ending’s great but I’m still thinking that it could’ve been better if she didn’t screw up in the first place.
