This is one of those books where the synopsis doesn’t really tell you what’s on it. True, there’s the seven year gap and the brother’s best friend issue, but I feel like it’s missing something.
Anyway.
So the story started when the two met at a party and Derek was drooling over Kenna. Then the two parted ways, but not before they acknowledge the spark and the problem between them. It’s actually my issue with the story. Yes, the sparks are there, the chemistry is undeniable, but I feel like it’s missing the emotional connection between the two. All I could see is two people in lust with each other and finally hooked up. When they started saying “I love you”s, it doesn’t seem realistic for me. I wish there were more moments that they connected as two people who liked each other, not just those hot moments they were trying to be all over each other.
Also, the story seems pretty short, the biggest turning point was her being shot and that’s it. Then the suspect confessed to Derek, closing the case off without any more action. It’s a good book and plot, but I think there’s something missing – like there could be more to it.
